"Studio C" - Wells, New York

Here's what Cynthia wrote

“The moment upon entering John and Caroline's estate you will be greeted with extended kindness and hospitality. Their passion for life is not only displayed within the beautiful sculpture garden surrounding you, but also in their attention to you as a guest in Studio C- a one of a kind experience of simplistic elegance and historic significance. The studio is full of natural light, lovely kitchen with all the essentials, set within an expansive sculpture garden and babbling stream that beckons relaxation. We stayed a week, often taking day trips throughout the Adirondacks, yet felt our return each day to the lovely town of Wells and Studio C were some of our fondest memories. We hope to return again during the fall, as our only small disappointment was arriving a bit too early to see the Adirondacks in all its glory of fall colors.”

Cynthia's private feedback for you:

“John and Caroline, thanks again for sharing your lovely slice of Adirondack beauty with us. We headed south with a new found appreciation of New York's woodland gem and a profound awareness of the beautiful balance with art and nature.”

There are too many kind things to say about John and Caroline; aside from being two incredibly accomplished artists they have created a beautiful retreat that is perfect for any nature explorer or art lover. My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to find their property last minute after another Airbnb person cancelled on us. They responded very quickly and thoroughly communicated with

us before our arrival to assure we made it safely.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by two of the most warm and kind people both of us had ever met. Since it was dark, they showed us around the studio which was beautifully decorated, warm, and tranquil. They also gave us a bottle of maple syrup they pull from

their own trees. In the morning, we were excited to see we were staying in an incredible sculpture garden with a river right behind the property. During our time staying with John and Caroline we went to Gore Mountain to snowboard and even borrowed snow shoes from our hosts to

explore the Adirondacks. Based on their recommendation, we had an amazing day trekking to the frozen Auger Falls.

One of the best parts of their studio is that you get to stay among both of their beautiful sculptures. Other highlights of our stay included: a well-stocked kitchen, an amazingly cozy wood-burning stove, and personal tours of their galleries and workshops.

John and Caroline were attentive hosts our entire stay. We are happy to have been their first Airbnb guests. We will be recommending

their property for years to come and will be back again soon.

John and Caroline were the perfect hosts! My husband and I wanted to get away from the city for a relaxing, romantic trip for my birthday. First of all, John was very quick to respond to my inquiries and booking was a breeze. He was very helpful with providing suggestions for our time up there and even sent along some gorgeous shots of the property and nearby Auger Falls. The pictures on Airbnb do not do this lovely space justice. It's open, airy and perfectly appointed. The bed is super comfortable (Caroline irons the sheets herself, which is a wonderful, thoughtful touch) and the space has numerous cozy seating options.

The kitchen is well appointed and I loved cooking in it. The property itself is a sculpture garden displaying John and Caroline's breathtaking work along a lovely river. So very picturesque. At John's recommendation, we used provided snowshoes to hike to Auger Falls. It was the first time we've ever used snowshoes and we had a blast. And the Auger Falls trail is awe-inspiring. Some of Auger Falls was still frozen, so it looked a bit like Superman's fortress of solitude. John was spot on with this suggestion! I was especially touched because John and Caroline got me a card and wine for my birthday! And we got a bottle of their very own maple syrup - which is delicious!

Overall, it was exactly what we wanted and we will definitely be back in the late Summer/early Fall. We have found our go-to place to stay for all our Adirondack adventures. Thanks John and Caroline!
